What to do With the Last Month of Winter in Central Oregon

Every season in Central Oregon seems to be everyone's favorite, it's hard to pinpoint the greatest one. The first couple months of winter are just about perfect, but it's that last month that seems to drag on just a tad. So.. we've got you covered. 6TH ANNUAL PUP CRAWL



Come out for one – or all – evenings of HSCO’s 6th annual Pup Crawl! This fun event raises critical funding for the animals in our care, and supports generous local businesses at the same time.

MOONLIGHT & STARLIGHT SNOWSHOE TOURS



Discover the Cascades under the bright moonlight reflecting off of the white snow, and look for signs of  animals in their nocturnal wonderland! Wanderlust Tours runs monthly moonlight snowshoe trips for the few nights surrounding each full moon from November to April.
Exploring with Wanderlust Tours' renowned naturalist snowshoe guides, tour participants will get away from the light of the city, learn about the constellations, watch for shooting stars and listen for the hush of the nighttime forest of the Cascades.

In the heart of winter, when Mt. Bachelor beckons adrenaline junkies from all over the region, we think it’s only right to celebrate the adventure-packed season of snow with a massive party of fire and ice. Oregon WinterFest is just that. It is Oregon’s party of the winter and 2017 is going to be bigger and better than ever before!

SISTERS FOLK FESTIVAL 2017 WINTER CONCERT SERIES



On Tuesday, February 21, the series will feature serious bluegrass pickers and singers. This bluegrass showcase includes the dobro/guitar duo of Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, and the powerful yet intricate music of the Molly Tuttle Band, each doing their own sets.

MUSE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE



The annual Muse Women’s Conference brings together local women & teens with internationally recognized artists, authors, athletes, entrepreneurs, activists, and social change leaders to celebrate International Women’s Day and kick-off Women’s History Month.

GRIN AND BEAR IT 5K AND 10K RUN/WALK



Held the first Saturday in March and in its 15th year, the Grin and Bear It attracts over 500 runners and walkers leading them through Bend’s Old Mill District and ending at the Les Schwab Amphitheater for a day filled with family-fun games, a 5 & 10 K run/walk as well as a 1-mile family walk/run culminating with an awards ceremony at center stage.

Upcoming Events in Central Oregon

With the long and cold winters of Central Oregon, our extremely active community can get a little stir-crazy if you're not into snowboarding or skiing. So, here are some things to fill your calendar with that you and the whole family will enjoy.


Polar Bear 5k/10k/Half Run/Walk
Where: St. Thomas Academy
When: January 14th @ 10:30 am
What: Come out and brave the cold as the course takes you through Redmond's Beautiful Dry Canyon. All ages, and levels are welcome and encouraged. Strollers are welcome on course.


High Desert Museum - Free Family Saturday
Where: High Desert Museum
When: Sat January 21st | Doors open @ 10:00 am
What: Thanks to their generous sponsors, twice every year the Museum is open to all with no admission. Free Day gets busy, so arrive early!


Family Karaoke Saturdays
Where: Looking Glass Imports & Cafe
When: Every Saturday 6pm - 10pm
What: Karaoke, featuring a music library of more than 25,000 songs and a professional sound system. Looking Glass serves healthy food along with tasty drinks including; espresso, hot and cold tea, soda, and adult beverages. Hosted by DJ Tonya, this karaoke is open to adults and kids of all ages. Explicit lyrics are removed from their song library.


Bonfire on the Snow - Snowshoe Tour

What: Relax around the fire enjoying delectable desserts and hot drinks while naturalist guides share fun facts about the forest, its animal life and the night sky! This is Bend and Sunriver's ultimate snowshoeing apres ski event.



Annie The Musical
Where: Tower Theater
When: January 27th @ 7:30 pm
What: Annie is based on Harold Gray's popular comic strip Little Orphan Annie. The comic strip premiered in the 1920s in the New York Daily News, and became one of the most widely read strips in the 30s and 40s. A musical for the whole family!

Winter Raptors
Where: High Desert Museum
When: Saturday February 4th @ 8:00 am
What: Join a Museum biologist for a trip to observe raptors in Central Oregon. Visit Fort Rock to see wild raptors including golden eagles, ferruginous hawks, prairie falcons, merlins and more, and learn about their natural behavior. Transportation provided.
